Week 2 - International Steamup

Bob Weltyk took this picture while I was running my Shay.  We were breaking a record with a total of 30 engines linked together.  All Shay's.

The "lady's only" table. "NO TRAINS" the sign on the table said.  That's Pat on the right side with her back to us.

Here is the sign, already made up, for the 2008 steamup.

Talking to my friend from Missouri.  Larry built my coal fired Ruby.  You can see we are having a great time.

Here I am setting the wicks on a alcohol fired engine.  The owner had problems making enough steam, and I had the experience of setting up the wicks on this style locomotive in the past.

Week 3

Dobbs has been having a little trouble, but mostly is having fun and enjoying the warm weather.

I purchased a live steam launch to use at the lake this summer.

I have finished assembly and test fired the boiler.  Ready for it's maiden voyage.

The overall length is 38". The engine fires using butane and should get about a 30 min run.

Click here to see a short video of the maiden voyage.

We took a road trip today to the gulf coast.  By Yankeetown.

The temperature was in the low 80's and the sun was warm.

Wanted to go in the water, but didn't want to deal with the salt.

'No Pets Allowed' on the beach. So, Dobbs was stuck in the air conditioned car for a while.
